Aboriginal Housing Victoria The Aboriginal Housing Board of Victoria was established in 1981 to develop and manage housing assistance to the Aboriginal community. Aboriginal Housing Victoria (as it is now known) is a non-profit, non-government housing organisation dedicated to the provision of safe, secure and affordable housing for Aboriginal Victorians.
Our Vision: That all Aboriginal people in Victoria will be housed in safe, secure and affordable housing that meets their social, cultural and economic aspirations.
The Aboriginal Rental Housing Program (ARHP), currently funded by both the State and Commonwealth Governments, has approximately 1,300 properties across Victoria. The ARHP is currently managed by Office of Housing (OoH), in partnership with Aboriginal Housing Victoria (AHV) which provides assistance on the delivery of the program. The Director of Housing (DoH) owns the properties.
Under its Strategic Plan, AHV has the goal of becoming an integrated tenancy and property management business with control and eventual ownership of the ARHP.
Currently, AHV is undergoing the Transition to Independence process whereby we will be able to take on Tenancy Management of the ARHP. |
